GEOGRAPHY

At St Oswald’s, our aim is for all pupils to develop a greater understanding of God’s world, as well as their place in it. When teaching geography, we hope to promote an interest for learning about diverse places, cultures, people, resources and environments. We will ensure that our pupils develop a deep understanding of the Earth’s physical and human geography, exploring how these bring us together. We aim for our pupil's to know and understand their local area, showing pride for Coppull. knowing its place in God’s diverse, exciting world.

Our Geography curriculum intends to achieve the following:

  • To equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments.
  • To develop an understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
  • To develop geographical skills such as collecting and analysing data and using globes, maps, photos and digital mapping tools.
  • To encourage critical thinking when considering local and global geographical issues.
  • To ensure children will know and use subject specific vocabulary and will communicate their knowledge in a variety of ways.
  • To  provide regular opportunities for fieldwork
