CURRICULUM INTENT STATEMENT

“Education is an act of love; it is giving life.” Pope Francis

The curriculum at St Oswald’s Catholic Primary School is designed to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their faith, ‘Live, love and learn’ like Jesus.

We believe, that each one of the precious children at St Oswald’s was carved by God to be an outstanding human being. Our vision is to ensure they accept the responsibility of achieving their full potential. It is important they must be equipped with the knowledge, skills and understanding, as well as the spirit and confidence, to make a positive contribution to God’s Kingdom. They must become good human beings, who let their light shine in the world. They must view the world with ambition and positivity, as a place with potential to be better, rather than one they must accept and cope with.

It is our intent that St Oswald’s will be an environment where we will all be inspired to the best versions of ourselves. The children will develop positivity towards their learning and develop aspirations for themselves. They will desire excellence and know that through hard work and dedication, and by embracing challenge, they can succeed. The children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development will permeate our whole curriculum.

The staff team will show pride in the education they provide the children, knowing that by making the most of their God-given gifts, they will better inspire the children to become the wonderful person God intended them to be.
