RELIGIOUS EDUCATION SUMMARY
“Live, love and learn like Jesus.”
St Oswald’s Catholic Primary School works closely with St Oswald’s Catholic Church and is proud to be part of the Archdiocese of Liverpool. Our strong parish links help us to foster a caring, faith-filled community where children feel valued and supported.
Religious Education is a key part of our curriculum and is taught for 10% of the overall school timetable. We are currently introducing the Religious Education Directory (RED) across the school, with children in Reception through to Year 4 now learning through this programme. While the RED is being carefully and systematically rolled out, pupils in Years 5 and 6 continue to follow the Come and See programme.
We are proud of the high standards achieved in Religious Education. The Catholic life of the school is central to our mission, and children take part in thoughtful, well-planned prayer and liturgy that is both meaningful and spiritually enriching.
As part of our close relationship with the parish, children in Year 4 have the opportunity to prepare for and celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, with the support of both the parish and the school.
